100 MILE CANOE TEST 2007 |
This year's 100 Mile Canoe Test took place on the River Wye between Glasbury and Monmouth over the Spring Bank Holiday Weekend, 25th May – 29th May 2007.The group were based at Fownhope, Herefordshire. Warwickshire Clubs for Young People took young people from Active Youth, the Bradby Club, Coventry Boys' Club and Riverhouse School. All the young people involved completed the challenge and gained a huge amount from the experience, and deservedly so. The young people have been training for this event since February and have worked extremely hard to achieve a standard enabling them to complete a 100 Miles. The weather during the Canoe Test was extremely changeable, and on the second day the group experienced the worst weather that the event had ever seen. However, all thoroughly enjoyed the experience and can not wait to take on the challenge again next year. All the young people involved gained their British Canoe Union 1 Star Award, which is a fantastic achievement, and will allow the young people to progress and develop their skills in the sport of Kayaking. 06/06/2007
