
SENIOR MEMBER TRAINING 2009 |
During the 09 Easters Holidays Warwickshire Clubs for Young People delivered its annual Senior Member Training Course. The course is intended for older club members, from affiliated clubs age between 16 & 19 years who intend to become assistant leaders within their respective clubs. The course itself is a week long residential visit to an Outward Bound Centre at Aberdovey in Wales. This year's group was made up of Young People from the Bradby Club, Dosthill Boys' Club, Willenhall ABC and Lillington Youth Centre. During the week the young people took part in rowing a cutter out to sea then surf kayaking to shore, climbing and abseiling, high ropes and a two day overnight expedition. Below are some comments made by young peoples about the week's activities. About Surf Kayaking: "It was really good I hadn't done anything like that before" About climbing & Abseiling: "Abseiling was wicked and the rock climbing brought us together as a team" About high roped: "Our teamwork improved" About the Expedition: "I was very proud when we reached our destination", "We really pulled together as a group" Graham Norman WCYP Youth Development Officer said "All the young people involved in the residential had a fantastic experience with the weather staying on our side for most of the week. All the young people who completed the week developed in confidence, learnt new skills, made new friends and most importantly had fun"!
